10 Week Big Mountain Ski Instructor Course

The Professional Ski Instructors of Canada (PSIC) Big Mountain Pathway is an exciting development in Canadian ski coaching. Our 10 week course is aimed at keen skiers wishing to develop their BIG mountain skiing and freeride skills.

Regardless of whether you are taking a gap year, a career break or wish to begin a career in the mountains, this course is for those of you who enjoy skiing in more challenging “off piste style”  terrain and want to develop your skills in that arena.

From Spanky’s Ladder, the Sudan Couloir, Whistler’s Horseshoes and countless secret spots throughout Whistler, our specialist big mountain expert coaches will lead you to the goods and transform your skiing in this type of terrain. Whistler Blackcomb is home to by far the biggest and most varied ski area in North America and is Canada’s snowiest major resort. This new program really maximises what Whistler can offer.

After an initial few weeks of all mountain technical ski improvement and the PSIC L1 instructor course, we move onto the Big Mountain Pathway for weeks 5-10 which culminates in the PSIC L2 Big Mountain Coach Certification and also includes the Canadian Avalanche Association (CAA) Avalanche Skills Training 1 too.

As with all our courses, the foundation really is the quality of coaching provided by our expert team. Our hand picked coaches, led by one of Canada’s top Level 4 Examiners,  administer the ALLTRACKS Training Formula. This rigorous training program will challenge you, transform your technique but also be great fun along the way.

Your coaches will give continued supportive and constructive feedback along with video analysis. With ski coaching limited to a maximum of 6 per coach, you can be sure of receiving plenty of individual attention while still enjoying the dynamics and camaraderie of a group of like minded skiers.
