Working Holiday Visa Guides
Planning to Work Abroad? Here’s What You Need to Know.
If you’re aiming to work as a ski instructor overseas, securing the right visa is essential.
For Canada, you’ll need the International Experience Canada (IEC) Working Holiday Visa — available to citizens of many Western countries aged 18–30 (or 35 for some nationalities). These visas are often in high demand and limited in number, so we strongly recommend applying as early as possible although you do need to be 18 to apply.
The good news? ALLTRACKS offers a step-by-step visa application guide to make the process smooth and stress-free. Just request it when you contact us – we’re here to help.
For Europe, you’ll need to hold a European (EU), Swiss, or Norwegian passport to work as an instructor.

Internship Resorts
Four Incredible Resorts — Each with Its Own Unique Atmosphere
Every ALLTRACKS internship location offers a distinctive experience, but all deliver world-class training and unforgettable mountain living.
Welcome to the heart of Canadian ski culture. As the largest ski area in North America, Whistler Blackcomb is home to over 1,000 instructors and offers a vibrant mountain town atmosphere with unmatched ski terrain and energy. This is where all mountain skiers come to live the dream and you too can spend a season here working.
Sasquatch, Canada
Nestled in British Columbia just a couple of hours inland from Vancouver, Sasquatch is a true local’s mountain. While it may be smaller in size, it more than makes up for it with a welcoming atmosphere and a close-knit team culture. At Sasquatch, everyone pulls together. If you choose this option, after training with our expert pros in Whistler, you’ll have the opportunity to live and work at one of Canada’s hidden gems.
Switzerland’s premier ski resort, Verbier offers legendary slopes, a stylish alpine town, and an international, cosmopolitan vibe. It’s the perfect setting for those seeking top-tier skiing and a dynamic European experience.

FAQS about the internships
What level of skiing do I need for a ski instructor internship? You’ll need to be a strong intermediate to advanced skier. You don’t need to be skiing at an expert level, but you should be comfortable on most terrain. If you’re unsure whether your level is right, get in touch and the ALLTRACKS team can advise based on your experience.
Do I need previous teaching or coaching experience? For the Whistler internship, some experience in teaching, coaching, or leadership is required. For other programmes like Sasquatch, a positive attitude and strong skiing ability are the main criteria. Experience in any instructional role or a postion with responsibility for others — sports coaching, tutoring, lifeguarding — is always a bonus.
What ski instructor qualification will I gain? Depending on your chosen resort, you’ll gain certification under one of the world’s leading ski instructor bodies: either PSIC (Professional Ski Instructors of Canada, CSIA (Canadian Ski Instructors’ Alliance) in Canada, or BASI (British Association of Ski Instructors) in Verbier.
What is the pass rate for the instructor exam on the internship? 100%. Every ALLTRACKS intern who has completed the training programme has passed their instructor exam. That said, the training is demanding — you’ll need to commit fully to get the most out of it.
Is a job guaranteed after the internship? Every single past ALLTRACKS intern has been hired by the resort ski school where they trained. You won’t be moved to a different resort — you’ll work where you trained, with the team you’ve already built relationships with.
How much will I earn as a ski instructor during the season? Pay varies by resort and level of certification, but working as a resort ski instructor is a paid position. Many interns find that their earnings, combined with included accommodation, make for a very affordable — and unforgettable — season in the mountains. To give you an idea, pay in Whistler is currenlty $20CAD per hour.
Do I need a visa to work as a ski instructor in Canada? Yes. Unless you are Canadian, to work legally in Canada you’ll need the International Experience Canada (IEC) Working Holiday Visa, available to citizens of many Western countries aged 18–35 (age limits vary by nationality). These visas are limited and in high demand, so applying early is essential. ALLTRACKS provides a step-by-step visa guide — just ask when you get in touch.
Can I do a ski instructor internship in Europe? Yes. We offer an Autumn 7 week course in Zermatt, Switzerand where a job for the season afterwards is available – both to British and European students.
There is also the programme in Verbier, Switzerland with our partner ski school. To work as an instructor there, you’ll need to hold an EU, Swiss, or Norwegian passport.
The Verbier programme includes 10 weeks of training up to BASI Level 2 before you begin teaching.
What’s included in the internship programme? All ALLTRACKS internships include accommodation for the full season, expert coaching, and the instructor certification exam. Specific inclusions vary by resort — visit the individual programme pages for Whistler and Verbier for full details, or contact the team for a breakdown.
How many spaces are available? Spaces are strictly limited on all programmes, particularly the Whistler internship. ALLTRACKS keeps group sizes small deliberately, to ensure each intern gets the personal coaching and attention they need to pass their exam and thrive in the resort.
When should I apply? As early as possible. Spaces fill up fast — often many months before the season starts. If you’re thinking about it, the best time to get in touch is now.
I’m not sure which internship is right for me – can you help? Absolutely. The ALLTRACKS team is happy to talk through your skiing ability, goals, budget, and timeline to help you find the best fit. Get in touch and we’ll take it from there.
