8 week combined ski instructor & off piste course
Push Your Boundaries on our 8 week ski course
Instructor Qualifications. Avalanche Safety. Big Mountain Adventure.
This 8-week programme is the perfect way to fast-track your skiing — combining Level 1 & 2 ski instructor qualifications, avalanche safety training, and the opportunity to experience some of the best off-piste skiing in Canada. Join a group of passionate skiers this winter and train under the guidance of supportive, expert coaches and mountain guides.
The first 6 weeks focus on building a strong foundation in all-mountain technique, both on and off piste, while fully preparing you for the PSIC or CSIA Level 1 & Level 2 exams. You’ll gain the technical skills and teaching knowledge to become a certified instructor — while transforming your personal skiing along the way.
Following the instructor training, the course shifts focus almost entirely to off-piste ski improvement. You’ll explore Whistler’s legendary terrain with some of the most experienced big mountain coaches in the region, chasing the best snow and honing your freeride skills each day.
In addition to instructor qualifications, you’ll also complete the Canadian Avalanche Association AST Level 1 — giving you an essential introduction to avalanche awareness and backcountry safety skills.
If you’re looking to combine qualifications with genuine big-mountain experience — this is the course for you.

Course Schedule
Welcome to Whistler
Head Coach Guy Hetherington gives you a welcome briefing, introduces you to our instructors and helps you choose your ski equipment. We’ll show you around the resort and collect your season pass before bringing the group together for a welcome party with a couple of drinks and some of Whistler’s greatest pizza.
Let's Ski!
Meet at 9 where we will oversee the split into coaching groups and you’ll meet your personal instructor. Get ready to explore the whole of the Whistler Blackcomb resort so you know the lie of the land. With loads of miles under your belt in the first few days, your coach will already be able to analyse your technique – whilst you have fun!
Progression
Building on your experiences in week 1, we’ll start coaching according to our Unique Training Formula which splits sessions into Component, Challenge and Free Range tuition. Using regular video analysis you’ll see your progress visually and also receive instructor methodology clinics too. We will cover ski maintenance so you keep your gear in the best possible condition. And don’t forget the weekly apres-ski socials!
Level 1 exam and Avalanche training
Time for your first exam. Our entire coaching team are qualified examiners so you’ll feel confident and well prepared. We’ll be here to celebrate your success on completion too. With the first step under your belt, you’ll get a few days off before finishing the week with the first CAA Avalanche Skills Training Level 1. We want you to adventure safely so we combine this with learning mountain safety and how to ski safely off piste.
Ski Coaching & Prep for Level 2
More all-mountain ski coaching is designed to elevate your skiing across the full range of conditions and terrain — from perfectly groomed pistes to bumps, steeps, and off-piste. You’ll work on refining advanced techniques, improving versatility, and developing the performance level expected of a Level 2 instructor.
We integrate targeted training for the Level 2 exam. You’ll gain in-depth knowledge of teaching progressions, master demonstration skills, and build the confidence needed to deliver high-quality lessons. By the time you sit your Level 2 exam, you’ll be fully prepared.
Level 2
These weeks see the Level 2 exam. You’ll be well prepared and we look forward to celebrating with you on results day with one final apres-ski.
Off Piste Exploration
The final two weeks are all about making the most of Whistler’s legendary off-piste terrain — refining your technique in variable conditions, exploring the resort’s best hidden lines, and, with any luck, enjoying plenty of deep Canadian powder.
We hope you finish the course not only as the skier you’ve always aspired to be, but having shared the experience with great friends and unforgettable memories along the way.
