Course Schedule
Welcome to Whistler
A warm welcome at the airport, and a coach ride to the resort to settle into your accommodation. Next morning, Head Coach Guy Hetherington gives you a welcome briefing, introduces you to our instructors and helps you choose your ski equipment. We’ll show you around the resort and collect your season pass before bringing the group together for a welcome party with a couple of drinks and some of Whistler’s greatest pizza.
Let's Ski!
Meet at 9 where Guy will oversee the split into coaching groups and you’ll meet your personal instructor. Get ready to explore the whole of the Whistler Blackcomb resort so you know the lie of the land. With loads of miles under your belt in the first few days, your coach will already be able to analyse your technique – whilst you have fun!
Progression
Building on your experiences in week 1, we’ll start coaching according to our Unique Training Formula which splits sessions into Component, Challenge and Free Range tuition. Using regular video analysis you’ll see your progress visually and also receive instructor methodology clinics too. Guy will cover ski maintenance so you keep your gear in the best possible condition. And don’t forget the weekly apres-ski socials! This course also often coincides with the Whistler Film festival so you’ll be busy on and off the slopes.
Level 1 exam and Avalanche training
Time for your first exam. Our entire coaching team are qualified examiners so you’ll feel confident and well prepared. We’ll be here to celebrate your success on completion too. With the first step under your belt, you’ll get a few days off before finishing the week with the first CAA Avalanche Skills Training evening session.
Ski Coaching and Avalanche skills
Now your ski skills have advanced, we’ll introduce you to avalanche safety.. Many people join our courses wanting to confidently ski deep powder off piste. We want you to adventure safely so we combine this with learning mountain safety and how to navigate the backcountry.
Level 2
Still plenty of time for exploration but we’re also kicking off your Level 2 training this week. You’ll be in full swing by now, enjoying the best of Whistler life and the thrill of the biggest, snowiest ski resorts on earth.
Level 2 exam and goodbyes
Your finale begins – a last hurrah on the slopes and your final Level 2 assessment. Celebrate your success with the ALLTRACKS team with one final group social and reflect on the huge progress you’ve made whilst surrounded by your new friends and ski partners.
After the course
Although you may be heading back at the end of this programme, some guests stay on and spend the rest of the season working. It is important to understand that a job after the 7 week course is not guaranteed, and jobs can come at late notice. The 2024/25 winter had far fewer jobs than guests who wanted to stay on and work, but previous years have seen the majority of applicants successfully be recruited to the ski school.
