6 week off piste ski course Whistler
Off Piste Whistler
Revolutionise Your Off-Piste Skiing and Master Backcountry Safety
Transform your off-piste skiing while gaining essential backcountry knowledge as you explore the mighty Coast Mountain Range.
We kick off by introducing you to the ski area, analysing your technique, and providing focused, constructive feedback. Early in the course, you’ll complete the Canadian Avalanche Association Avalanche Skills Training (AST) Level 1, giving you a solid foundation in avalanche awareness and safety.
From there, we develop your technique and boost your confidence and ability on steeper, more challenging terrain — always on the hunt for the best snow and untouched powder.
In the second half of the course, you’ll venture further afield with ski touring missions into the backcountry. Here, we’ll complete the more advanced AST Level 2 course while accessing some of the finest terrain the region has to offer.
We hope that you complete the course with effortless technique and sound mountain knowledge, whilst having plenty of fun along the way.

Let's Ski!
Meet at 9 where we will oversee the split into coaching groups and you’ll meet your personal instructor. Get ready to explore the whole of the Whistler Blackcomb resort so you know the lie of the land. With loads of miles under your belt in the first few days, your coach will already be able to analyse your technique – whilst you have fun! A always, we will finish the coaching week with group Apres Ski.
CAA AST L1+ and All Mountain Coaching
With the group split taken care of, your coaches, who we believe are the strongest, most engaging and fun team in Canada, will lead you around the whole of the Whistler Blackcomb resort, the largest in North America, so you know the lie of the land. You’ll get loads of miles under your belt over the first few days. Concurrently your coach will begin to analyse your technique but the focus for week 1 is definitely exploration, loads of skiing and fun.
You will also learn about the mountains and how to navigate avalanche risk completing the AST1. The Canadian Avalanche Association has an extremely well researched and considered way of teaching this to recreational skiers and this is included in your first week too.
Professional Off Piste Focused Training
Professional Off Piste Focused Ski Coaching
Although sometimes we will coach on piste occasionally as sometimes it can be helpful to learn new skills on easier terrain, the overwhelming majority of the time will be spent off piste. Your expert coaches will continue to balance the ALLTRACKS training formula of component, challenge and free range training in order that you develop your skiing as far as possible, whilst making the most of Whistler unrivalled terrain and accessing secret spots only those in the know get to access. We will hunt out powder at every opportunity. For those that love off piste – That’s why we ski!
We will also continue with video analysis so you can visualise what is going well, and what needs to be worked on.
In either week 8 or 9, you will undertake the CAA AST Level 2. Ski touring through the Garibaldi Park backcountry, this part of the programme builds on what was covered in the AST 1+ and provides a more advanced decision making framework for skiing in the backcountry. Covering planning and travel techniques, more complex companion rescue scenarios and a deeper understanding of the snowpack and avalanche terrain, this week is critical to enable you to learn more about the mountain to get the most out of yous skiing.
AST 2, Backcountry touring & more off piste
In addition to more off piste coaching, in either week 4 or 5, you will undertake the CAA AST Level 2.
Final Coaching & Goodbyes
The cumulative week begins with more off piste coaching. You never stop learning and your coaches will continue to help refine your technique throughout this week, whilst also enjoying some iconic descents. Both Whistler and Blackcomb boast plenty and we’ll make sure to hit your favourites this week.
We will finish off with a final Apres and hope that you leave the course skiing as confidently and gracefully in deep snow, down steep slopes as you do only the easy pistes. That, together with gathering mountain safety knowledge, is the overriding aim of this programme as well as making lot’s of new mountain loving friends.
